This is how SBI’s WhatsApp banking works

You can check your account balance and mini statement at State Bank of India (SBI) via WhatsApp now. SBI has announced that it is now on WhatsApp and encouraging customers to take advantage of these services. Not only that, SBI also offers WhatsApp services on their credit cards where the customer can get important updates regarding their card through the messaging app. However, before opting for these services, a client must be registered. Make sure your current mobile number is linked to your SBI account for seamless WhatsApp banking.

SBI via his Twitter account said, “Your bank is now on WhatsApp. Get to know your account balance and view the mini statement on the go.”

To opt for the service via SBI WhatsApp Banking, the account holder must first register.

To register, the account holder must send an SMS to 7208933148 with the text ‘WAREG’ and your account number with a space between them. It should be noted that you must send the SMS through your mobile number registered with the SBI account. After completing the registration process, you will receive a message from SBI number 90226 90226 on your WhatsApp number.

You can simply send a “Hi SBI” to 90226 90226 or reply to the WhatsApp message you just received and follow the instructions to benefit from SBI services.

A bank account holder can enjoy services such as account balance, mini statement and unsubscribe from WhatsApp Banking.

Also, the largest public sector bank offers WhatsApp banking services to customers with credit cards under SBI Card WhatsApp Connect. A cardholder can check account summary, reward points, outstanding balance, make card payments and much more on WhatsApp services. Currently, SBI Card’s WhatsApp service is only available to SBI credit card holders.

Here’s how to subscribe to SBI Card’s WhatsApp Connect!

– Register the number 9004022022 and type ‘OPTIN’

– Give a missed call to 08080945040 from your registered mobile number

– SBI Card mobile app: log in to the mobile app, click – “WhatsApp Connect” in the main menu to subscribe to WhatsApp

– SBI Card Website: Click here, login and subscribe.

Ask ILA: click here, log in and subscribe.

– SMS: Send WAOPTIN XXXX to 5676791, where XXXX is the last 4 digits of your card number.

As part of SBI Card’s WhatsApp Connect, there is no additional charge for using this service. You can subscribe again to the WhatsApp service by launching an opt-in request.
