New Delhi: The State Bank of India (SBI) has sent an alert to its millions of people across the country, urging them to link their PAN to their Aadhaar card by March 31, 2022. The bank has warned its users to do the work needed before the due date or their banking service may be affected.

SBI said in a tweet: “We advise our clients to link their PAN to Aadhaar to avoid any inconvenience and continue to enjoy transparent banking service.”

“If unbound, the PAN will be rendered inoperative/inactive and cannot be used to perform specific transactions.” added the bank.

Notably, SBI had extended the deadline for linking PAN to Aadhaar from September 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022, keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic.

This is how to bind the PAN-Aadhaar card in the first place

Step 1: Access the official income tax website https://www.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Aadhaar Link’ option.

Step 3: On the new page, enter your PAN and Aadhaar details.

Step 4: Check the box ‘I only have the year of birth in the aadhaar card’ if only your date of birth is mentioned on the document.

Step 5: Check the details via captcha code or select OTP option.

Step 6: Select Aadhaar link button and your PAN and Aadhaar will be linked.

Link PAN and Aadhaar via SMS
