Improving digital banking services in rural areas: Cm | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel stressed that banks need to improve digital banking services in rural areas to make banking services more accessible. The CM chaired the 172nd meeting of the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.
Patel had called for the digitization of banking services so that even a remote rural citizen could get home banking services. “As part of PM Swanidhi Yojana and Swamitva Yojana launched for street vendors, bankers should take necessary steps to provide loan assistance to weaker sections,” Patel said.
“‘Atmanirbhar Gujarat thi Atmanirbhar Bharat’ can be achieved with the active participation of the banking sector and the state government,” he said. “The banking sector should actively take initiatives in sectors like agriculture, livestock and fisheries so that the beneficiaries benefit fully from the provisions foreseen in the budget for debt financing,” the chief minister said. In this regard, he said, banks should develop their own framework to achieve the targets set in this year’s budget to provide 0% interest loans and Kisan credit card benefits in the livestock and fishing sectors.
