Free courses for seniors offer tips on new technologies and online banking


Montgomery County seniors can learn how to use the latest iPhone, protect financial information using online banking, and mindfulness and its physical and mental benefits in new Senior Planet courses Montgomery proposed this month, according to a county statement. .

The program, available to county residents 50 and older, will run Sept. 6-10 free of charge via live video conferencing. The virtual classes will be available in English, as well as two classes in Mandarin.

The schedule will include:

  • iPhones: Tuesday, September 7, from 11 a.m. to noon. Learn about the latest iPhone, its features, and what to consider when buying.
  • Virtual Museum Tours: Tuesday, September 7, 4-5 p.m. Visit world-class museums from the comfort of your own home. Lectures explore some of these virtual galleries, as well as digital tools that help bring art, architecture and history to life.
  • Mindfulness Applications Thursday, September 9, 11 a.m. to noon. Introduces mindfulness and its physical and mental benefits, such as reducing anxiety, improving memory, and lowering blood pressure.
  • Money Matters: Thursday, September 9, 4 to 5 p.m. Introduces online banking and how to protect your financial information.

All programs offered are free through a partnership with the non-profit organization Older Adults Technology Services (OATS), as well as the Montgomery County Department of Recreation and Montgomery County Public Libraries.
