Customers are reported to be struggling to make payments through the app, online banking and over the phone.
Social media and website reports of outages Detector down show that the problems began around 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 31.
At 8:53 p.m., Barclays tweeted: “If you’re having trouble making payments through our apps, online banking or over the phone at this time, we’re sorry.
“We are working to resolve this issue and will update you here as soon as possible.
“Thank you for putting up with us.”

“Hello, I just made a transfer from one Barclays account to another, and the money was withdrawn from one and not placed in the other?” says a customer.
Another customer tweeted, “Sent money and it’s gone.”
Another confirmed: ‘Yeah I just transferred some money and it’s gone now.’
Customers report a RPS01 error on the app.
According to the Barclays website, the RPS01 error displays this message:
Sorry, something went wrong and your payment may not have gone through. Do not attempt to make another payment. You should verify your account after 4 hours, and if the payment has not been processed, you will need to resubmit it.
The error code suggests that the payment system is not working. Barclays asks customers not to try to resubmit payment as the issue usually resolves itself within four hours.
Barclays was advising people to clear their cache and cookies on their devices earlier in the evening.
