A provider of banking services to over 200 fintech and crypto companies has opened its second UK office in Leeds.
LHV’s engineering and development teams, which will be responsible for creating an exclusive online customer portal specifically designed for the company’s B2B fintech customers, will be based in the Leeds office.
LHV chose Leeds as their second UK office due to the city’s established fintech ecosystem and the wider region’s highly skilled workforce.
In addition, LHV UK is currently seeking a UK banking license as part of parent LHV Group’s plans to separate the business activities of its retail bank, LHV Bank, from those of LHV UK, headquartered in in London and which focuses on fintech. Since 2018, the company has been operating in the UK as the UK branch of LHV Bank.
The new office has a capacity of 30 offices, with options to increase its presence in the Wellington Place business center in the future if required.
Macs Dickinson, Senior Director of Engineering at LHV UK, said: “If London is the undisputed fintech capital of Europe, then Leeds is the fintech capital of the North. Last year, Leeds was named one of Digital’s fastest growing tech cities. Council of the Economy, and the city is already home to more than 30 national and international banks. As the city is home to the first fintech accelerator outside of London, it is an ideal second base for LHV UK.

LHV UK’s banking license is subject to regulatory approval by the Prudential Regulatory Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority.
